[FBEBS AOBKCT.] WRECK OF ANCNKNOWN SHIP. Wellirqton, Monday night. r ,*y cnnußal sittings of tbe Supreme Court opened this morning. There are 13 eases on the calendar, but none of an extraordinary character. In the course of his charge the Chief Justice referred at considerable length though oriy in general terms, to the action itf the natives in ploughing the settlers' land by way of asserting what they believe to be their rights, and his Honor pointed out with the view, as he said, of probably preventing tedious and expensive litigation, that the natives had been most ill-advised in the line of action they had adopted, and that there oould be little doubt as to tbe legality of tbe measure under which the lands had beeu taken by the Government, and the only reoburse the natives had was to move the 'Legislature to inquire into the whole question of their claims. The following telegram waa sent in by the pilot to tbe harbor roaster tbis afternoon:— " Quantity wreckage found at Pencarrow; deck planking 3 inch, some portion of bulwarks and rail painted green; cabin fittings of bird's-eye maple pannelled; some of wreckage painted blue; figure head fiddled and shelled, painted vermillion, with scroll work of green and gold; seaman's chest without lid, and no marks; part of boat painted black. Wreckage scattered from Pencarrow Head to Saltwater Lake, about four miles, and most of it is thrown well up on the beach, and broken into small pieces." It is conjectured that tbe wreck must bave occurred about a week ago at least. As yet nothing has been discovered to identify the vessel, but the description of the figure-head agreed with that of the barque Malay, and it was at first thought that was the vessel, but it appears tbat the Malay only left Newcastle about four days ago. Two other vessels are expected, namely, the Pareora and Pleione, but it could not be they, both being built of iron. No bodies bave been found. The pilot is ordered to take the whaleboatand make a careful search. It is thought unnecessary to send a steamer, as, if anyone had been saved, he conld easily make his way to the Pilot Station. It appears that about a week ago Captain Gibbons, of the Patea, passed through a lot of wreck outside tbe Heads on his way to Patea, but did not report it as he thought some inward bound steamer would be certain to do so. Tuesday. True bills have been found against Brodie and Cooper, from Poverty Bay, for a breach of the Arms Act by a majority of one.
