Ihe Mount Macedon state forest was tarown open for selection yesterday. There was a great rash of selectors, said to have numbered about two thousand. The Governor at Geelong last night in his speech, strongly urged that people should be induced to settle on the land, as he considered it a cot unmixed good for the inhabitants of a new country to be gathered in the towns or employed in factories. He spoke eulogistically of representative institutions. tt Sunday. Unconfirmed reports state that the trackers bave found signs of a recent encampment supposed to be the Kelly's but nothing certain is known. Further particulars are awaited.
Monday. There is no truth in the report of signs of the Kellys having been seen. There is a prospect of an English professional cricketing team visiting Melbourne during the Exhibition. Arrived— Hero,
