A Melbourne telegram of Saturday last says:— The Rev Mr Cole, Church of England clergyman, committed suicide, and two brothers named Gardiner immediately imitated hidl. Siguor Fompei has engaged a brother of Amy Sherwin as tenor of the opera company for New Zealand. fhc Christchurch Preta says ;— On Tuesday the opening of the shooting season afforded but poor sport, at least in the northern district. As an instance, a party of twelve, at Bangiora, went out at i a.m. to a favorite resort for ducks, but returned at 7 o'clock with only one duck and a rabbit amongst the party. The dry state of the lagoons is unfavorable to anything like sport. We regret to say that the health of Colonel Facke, who has conducted the annual inspection of the Auckland Volunteers, became so bad that by the advice of his medical men he abruptly terminated bis engagement yesterday, and proceeded south by the s.s. Hawea. Colonel Facke is subject to asthma, and has been suffering for some time. We trust that he may soon get rid of the affection which now afflicts him. His gentlemanly conduct and soldier-like bearing, as well as his impartial and out-spoken criticism made him exceedingly popular in Auckland, and there is not a Volunteer here who will not regret the cause of Colonel Packe's sudden ' departure from the province. — Auckland Herald.
Hollo watt's Ointment and Pills. — Diseases of Women. — Medical science of all ages has been directed to alleviate the many maladies incident to females, but Professor Holloway by dilligent study and attentive observation, was induced to believe that nature had provided a remedy for these special diseases. After vast research, he succeeded in compounding his celebrated Pills and Ointment, which embody the principle naturally designed for the relief and cure of disorders peculiar to women of all ages and constitutions, whether residing in warm or cold climates. They have repeatedly corrected disordered functions which had defied the usual drugs prescribed by medical men, and with the still more satisfactory result that the malady has been completely and permanently removed.
