CORRESPONDENCE.

To the Editor of the 'Evening Mail.' Sik,— Mr Pitt, in his letter to the electors, published in your issue of the 21st instant, has furnished extracts from the reports of two public meetings held in Nelson in 1873 and 1874, shewing that he made speeches afc those meetings. It is a pity he did not publish the whole of the reports, which would have shown the part taken by myseif and others. However, I can quite confirm his statements as far as they go, as I was chairman of the meeting in 1873, and made a speech, introducing the subject to the electors ; and I was one of the few who got up the meeting in 1874, and arranged who should speak. I did not speak myself at the last meetiug, as I had been so continually advocating the Railway, and it was thought better, by getting other people to speak, to show the Government that the Railway agitation was not confined to the few names that had been already so often before them. — Yours &c, Acton Adams.
