The Lady Barkly sails on her usual trip to Golden Bay at 5 p.m. to-day. The Ocean Bird left Wellington for Westport on Saturday last. The schooner Awaroa, from Wanganui, was coming up the bay as we went to press. ' The schooner Jessie Nicol left Lyttelton for Durville's Island on Sunday, for what purpose we have not been able to ascertain. Captain Malcolm, late of the Taranaki, ■went as pilot on the Rotorua on her trip round the Sounds. Captain Chatfield, late of the Claud Hamilton, has been appointed to the command of the Ringarooma. The Taiaroa left Wellington at 2.15 p.m. yesterday, called at Picton, and arrived here at 7 o'clock this morning. She returns to Picton and Wellington at 4 p.m. The schooner Croydon Lass, from Lyttelton, was in sight last evening, but was unable to make the harbor until this afternoon, on account of their being little or no wind. She brings a general cargo. The Claud Hamilton left Wellington at 7.15 p.m. yesterday, and experienced fine weather across the Straits, arriving here at 8 a.m. to-day. As she had thirty tons of cargo to land it was found impossible to get her away by the same tide, and her departure was consequently postponed until 6 o'clock to-night, when she will sail for Melbourne via West Coast ports. The following are the new arrangements with reference to the Union Company's new boats:—The Melbourne and New Zealand service will be done by the Ringaro«ma, Arawata, Albion, Claud Hamilton, Rotorua, and Tararua, the last two running alternately in the Sydney trade with the Wakatipu. The East Coast service will be carried on by the Hawea, Taupo, and Wanaka, and that to and from Picton, Nelson, Tarauaki, and Manukau by the Wellington and Taiaroa alternately. The Maori will continue to conduct the service round the South Island, the Waitaki that between Dunedin and Oamaru, and the Beautiful Star that to Timaru. The Claud Hamilton is the only steamer that will run to and from Melbourne via Hokitika.
