A little boy four years of age, son of Mr James Hart, Richmond, while playing yes- j terday fell with his leg under him break--1 ing the thigh bone. Dr. Waring was sent for I and reduced the fracture, and the little i fellow is going on as well as can be expected. ' Mk Henry Varley, of whom all who have heard him speak in the highest terms, will hold a closing service in the Provincial Hall to-night, when there will withdutf 'doubt be a crowded house. Cbarbonnet's concthcta waa given last night at the Theatre, and was in every respect equal to that of Monday night. We have already placed on record our opinion of this talented young lady's magnificent performances on the piano, and to this we can add nothing, but we would strongly recommend all who enjoy this description of entertainment to avail themselves of the last opportunity, to be afforded to them this evening, of hearing her exquisite playing. The singing of Miss Florence Neville found great favor with the audience last night, especially in the "Ave Maria," in which she was accompanied by Mdlle. Charbonnet on the piano and Mr Bonnington °" the Tiolin. The grand duefc from William Jell, which was repeated last night by general request, was a splendid musical recitation , both Mademoiselle and Mr Bonnington throwing 'their whole soul into the beautiful music. 4The applause throughout was rapturous, every item on the programme being encored^ and the showers of bouquets that fell oh. the stage testified to the apprecrajion hy the audience of the excellence of the performance. fTo-nighfc the prices are to.be re'due'ed to four shillings, two, and one, which' should ensure a fuHjhouse. The- sixth annual Conference took place at Mr Short's 'yesterday. The morniqg meeting iwas held in the house when there about 300 : present, Messrs Short.Forfong', Varley, and Fittall, and the Revs J. Beckenham, j. Leightou, C. Moon, and J. Hamilton taking part in the proceedings which, consisted of addresses and prayer, the Rev Mr Lightou expressing a hope that these meetings might be continued even though Mr Short who had inaugurated them was about to leave Nelson. In the afternoon the meeting was held ia the tent when, in addition to those who took a leading part in the morning meeting, Judge Thomas and Mr F. Spear offered up prayer, Messrs Varley and Forlong again addressing the large assemblage of nearly 500 persons both before and after the tea, which was liberally provided for them. The subjects that passed under discussion have already appeared in the programme published in our advertising columns. A bifle match was fired at the Maitai Butts yesterday morning between the Stoke and City Rifles, when the former proved victorious by 19 points. Notwithstanding the strong Spout wind that was blowing the scores were good, Pvt. Best heading the list for Stoke with 51, and Pvt. H. Moore for the City Rifles with 48.
