Wednesday. The ship Alexander McNeil arrived from Now York yesterday with a cargo of reapers and binders. The New Zealaland agents of >he Wood reaper and binder received a cablegram from London yesterday informing them that at; the trial under the auspices of the Highland Agricultural Society the Wood machine received tho first pn>e of a gold medal. The other machines competing were the Qsborne and MeCormick.— The Ashburton races commence to-day. -Mr Creswick will probably ai-rivc in' Dnncdin in February next. Ine City of Sydney's passage from Sydney occupied only four days and 55 minutes from pilot to pilot. This is the fastest time on record.
