The Customs r« «2ipts for the week ending this day were £490 4s 7d. It is announced by advertisement that copies of Hymns Ancient *nd Modern may be obtained at the All Saints' Church Institute tins evening between seven and nine o clo«k. The new hytnual will be brought into use to morrow. At the Magistrates' Court today, before 11. L. Curtis aud J. Sclanders, Esqs., J J.P Iredenck Allen, a seaman on board the Ladybird, was charged with wilful disobsdience of lawful orders. He was ordered to be imprisoned for 48 hours, the Bench stating that the sentence would have been more severe but for the fact that seamen did not appear to understand that their engagements required them to obey orders at all times. Mjt. John It. Mabin reports that at the auction yesterday of Mr Pritchard'a homehold furniture, $c., at bjs residence, Tasman btreet, there was a fair attepdaupe and prices realised were satisfactory. The piano brought £2Cj music stool, 20s; 8 day clock £3 5 - 8---chest drawers, £§■ couph, £2 10s; single iron bedstead*, Igs fid to 335. Cai-t. The first half yearly meeting of the members of the V.M.C.A. was held last night, the Key. li. Bavin ia the chair. Satisfactory reports were presented, and several addresses were delivered.
