MAILS CLOSE. Thcrsdat, October 17. For Westport, Greymouth, and Hokitika — per p.B. Charles Edward, at 1 p.m. For Wellington and South -per s.s. Taiaroa, at 12 noon Late letters (for despatch by steamer) bearing one rate of postage extra, may be posted at the Port Post Office forty minutes after the hour of closing such mails at the Chief Office. For Wakapuaka— Close every Wednesday and Saturday it 2.30 p.m.; arrive every Wednesday and Saturday at'll a.m. For Motueka, Motupipi, Waitapu, Takaka, Collingwood, Bedstead Gully, &c. — per steamer or sailing vessel. For Waimea West— Close every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 4 p.m.; arrive every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 2 am R. KIRTON Chief Postioastpr.
