CORRESPONDENCE.
To the Editor of the ' Evening Mail.' Sir— l should like to know, and a good many more wbo take some little iuterest in the appearance of our town would like to know, who is responsible for the execrable taste displayed in the erection of a lamp post in the centre of the flight of steps leading to Christ Church. The Church Hill, as it appears on turning the corner from Bridgestreet into Trafalgar-street, is one of the prettiest spots in the towD, and excites the admiration of all strangers visiting Nelson What a lot of Goths they will think us for deliberately destroying the beauty of the view by planting a great ugly post in so conspicuous a position. I hope the Council will insist upon its being removed without delay to the side of the steps, whence it will sbed its friendly light with equal effect by night, without being so grievous an eyesore by day.— lam, &c, Citizen.
