MOTUEKA LICENSING BENCH.

Our correspondent writes under date Motueka, .June 26:— At the adjourned sittino* of the Licensing Bench held to-day before C Parker, B. Macmahon, and H. A. Tarrant, Esqs., Commissioners, a transfer of the' license lately held by Mrs Wise was granted in favor of Joseph Auty, on condition that the repairs now being proceeded with be finished before next quarterly meeting, and to keep a light burning, Fee, £10. Transfer to Robert J. Goodman for Bridge Inn granted; stable to be put in proper repair. A memorial was put in, signed by a number of residents in the neighborhood, opposing the granting of the license, but it was not entertained by the Bench, the provisions of the Act not having beeu complied with. Fee, £10.

A. Dodson's renewal was granted for the Britannia Hotel, the stable to be put iv order and the ferry still to be kept until the bridge is completed, and then the applicant to keep the piers of the bridge free from timber Fee,£l.

Henry Talbot, Travellers' Rest, renewal granted, house to be put in repair before next meeting or license to be cancelled. The applicant blamed the owner of the house for non-completion of the repairs. Tbe above four were accommodation licenses.

Publicans liicen aes were granted to Ann Parker, Daniel Talbot, and W. W. Coppins, the latter to have the stable put in repair! The owner of the house was blamed in this case also by the applicant. A wholesale license waa granted to Simon Buchholz.

The constable's report on these houses was good.

The Chairman addressed the applicants generally as to the bad language frequently used in and about public houses, and cautioned them that they would be liable to lose their licenses if they themselves used or permitted others to use foul language in their houses.
