A large meeting at Manchester adopted resolutions that the British Government were obstacles to the maintenance of peace, and protested against the employment of troops from India in Europe. The Duke of Connaught (Prince Arthur of England) has been betrothed to Louise, the daughter of Prince Frederick Charles of Germany
The steamer Cambria has arrived at a harbor in Maine from the Baltic with 60 Ojfficers and 600 men of the Russian navy under command of Count Guiffenburg. It is believed they are intended for privateering.
Vienna, April 30. It is reported that there will be an early occupation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Constantinople, April 30. There has been an affray between "the Turkish and Russian troops near Constantinople.
May 2. General Todleben has failed to arrange for the withdrawal of the British ironclad squadron and the Russian army. He regards war as inevitable. The Mussulman rising continues. Paris, May 1. The opening of the Paris Exhibition was a brilliant affair.
