Sydney, Wednesday. In the action of Manning v. the New Zealand Insurance Company, for £7,000 iusurauce on the steamer Lord Ashley which foundered a short time ago, a verdict was given for the plaintiff for the full amount and interest. Tho Rfiv William B. Clarke, the Government geologist, has neeu suicken -trith paralysis. Although seriously ill, he is progressing favorably. Typhoid fever is raging at Richmond. Part of the cargo of the Chimborazo bas been brought to Sydney by the Woniora. It has been suggested to build extra bulkheads in order to get the Chimborazo to Port Jackson. The steamer City of Sydney will be admitted to pratique on Saturday. The Colonist leaves to-morrow with the New Guinea expedition. Melbourne, Wednesday. Sailed — Albion, for New Zealand. Melbourne is solely dependent on the water supply from the Yarra, which is a serious hardship. Thursday. The Assam with the mails arrived at Albany last night with a heavy passenger list.
