WAIMEA COUNTY COUNCIL.

The Council met at the Government Buildings this morning. Present all the members. Mr Barnicoat was re-appointed Chairman. The following gentlemen were appointed Returning Officers for the several Ridings:— For Riwaka, Mr J. T. Wilsou; for Stoke, Mr F. Kelling; for Wai-iti, Mr Chattock; for Motupiko, Mr D. Lindsay; for Moutere, Mr C. Kelling; for Waugaraoa, Mr Darnell; for Wangapeka, Mr C. Orchard The scale of fees was fixed as follows : — For nominations £1 Is, and for pollings, £2 2s, with travelling expenses of Is per mile from the officer's residence; deputy returning officers to receive half the fees, and the samo mileage. Mr Oliver, having agreed to amend his original resolution by omitting the recommendations to the Road Boards as to the direction in which their portions of the County fund were to be expended, moved, " That one-fourth of the County f and be allotted to the Waiiuea Road district; onefourth to the Motueka district; one-fourth to the Upper Motueka Road District; threetwentieths to the Suburban North District; and one-tenth to the outlying districts'. After some discussion if, \ras agreed to amend the proposition as follows: —To give to the Waimea district three-tenths; Upper Motueka, two-tenths ; Suburban North, onetenth; outlying districts, one-tenth.
