The Nelson Evening Mail. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6, 1878.
J The attention of the Waimea Road Board is directed to a letter which appears elsewhere complaining of the dangerous state of the ford near the old Wairoa Bridge. A correspondent writes complaining of the inconvenience of having to walk down to the Post Office to obtain information as to the hours at which mails close, and suggests that it would be & convenience to the public if mail notices were posted daily at the Telegraph office. Professor Honuicke and Madame Stella will gire another entertainment fco-night, when the programme will be considerably varied from that of tha previous evonings. It is with very great regret that we learn from our telegrams that Mr Aiexander Reid is supposed to have met with his death by drowning, as he was found to be missing from the Taupo on frer passage from Lyttelton to Wellington. As a journalist, Mr Reid was a man of no mean ability, and his forcible writings have been the means of bringing about many much needed reforms on the West Coast aud clgewhere. Personally, he was a great favorite with all to whom he was known, whether high or low, rich or poor, and all over New Zealand the news which appears in our telegraphic columns this evening will be read with unfeigned sorrow, for the deceased was bo well known that there is no part of the colony in which he had not one or more sincere friends. The Blenheim business of Messrs T. S. Wymond and Co. (says the Marlborough express) changed hands since last issue, but although the change is a serious one for somebody it is satisfactory to think that it will be an advantage to the public in some respects. The new firm will be " Girling and Co " and the difference will ba that instead of the "boss" being in Ne!«on and the 'profits going there to be spent, both will in future remain in Blenheim. W« cannot take leave of Mr Wyraond however in this uuceremonious way without acknowledging that his business has been a great boon to Blenheim and as his late manager will in future be the proprietor, we may have every confidence that the pupl'c will continue to derive a considerable benefit. QuEEK|f eelings, Odd sensations in various parts of the body particularly, in the head and lower extremities, which do not amount to actual pain, but are, upon the whole, rather worse, trouble many persons. Almost invariably they proceed from nervousness and weakness. A few doses of that peerless nervine aod invigorant, Udolfho Wolfe's Schiedam Abomatic ScHNArrs invariably dispel all such queer feelings and establish perfect bodily tomfort and tranquility. — Advt.
