AUTUMN HORTICULTURAL SHOW.
We were glad to find on visiting the Provincial Unit to-day tii.it tlie fears that bad bceu enicrlaincd of (ho non -success of this show were proved to be groundless. A dish cotifainitio- 94 sorts from the orchard of Mr Wildman, of Alotucka, also attracted considerable attention. To ihc whole of the exhibits in this class too much pnii.se cannot be accorded lucre is also a large collection of magnificent pears comprising a great variety, and of pl.-mis, peachy, nectarines, and melons there is a most tempting array. The grapes, too, arc exceedingly line, sliowiug deady thai the blight, of which there have been such grievous complaints, has not been general A. pretty httlo fruit bearing-vine in a pot is shown by Air jr rank, and a minaiture apple ree m b-unug by Mr Wfcscnuavern. Mr larmentLT had another of these little curiositieri, bin, unfortunately, the fruit was jolted oil it on the way to the Hall. On the centre table are some very tastefully arranged dishes and baskets of fruit
each collection containing a large variety. The show of flowers is not so large as we have seen, and the bouquets are far less numerous than on previous occasions. Some very pretty baskets of flowers, however, help to compensate for their loss. In the vegetable department there is a splendid show of giant pumpkins, some rich-looking tomatoes, onions, and cucumbers in fine condition, and peas and French beans in great quantity. Carrots of enormous size and excellent proportions, parsnips, beet, cabbages, and cauliflowers complete the list of what is to be seen in the Grand Jury room.
