Lord Derby had an interview with General Schovoloff, and expressed a hope that no Russian troops were moviDg towards Gallipoli whereby the British fleet at Constantinople might be threatened. Lord Derby also said that the consequences of such a movement would be most serious, and he must decline all responsibility for such consequences.
