At the final meeting of the Indian Famine Fund Committee it was stated that the total amount collected was £5 ..340. The balance of £270 remaining in hand will be given to the Benevolent Institution. There is great dissatisfaction amongst merchants and others at the short supply of trucks between Christchurch and the port. Taupo, Wednesday. Two sharp earthquakes were felt here between 9 aud 5.15 this morning, but no damage was done. The springs were unusually active for a considerable time after the shocks.
