The cashier lately in the employ of Messrs. Cory Bros., tbe largest colliery in South Wales, was sent from Cardiff on December 1, with nearly £2000 to pay the colliers. He, however, left the train at Croekerbtown StatioD, aod instead of proceeding by tho Taff Vale to Pentre, took a cab and drove to Newport ; thence he prooeeded by the Great Western Railway, it is believed, to London. Telegrams have been sent aU over the country, but no (race of him has been discovered nt present. A most painful impression has been created in Civil Service circles by the disappearance of a responsible official connected with one of the Law Courts. This impression has not been lessened by the discovery of a discrepancy of £30,000 in hia aecoants. We hear that proceedings will shortly be instituted against Clara Brown for alleged perjury in the evidence she gave before the coroner and also at the trial of the Stauntons at the Central Criminal Court. The firm of solicitors whom the Stauntons have retained since their conviction for the capital offence of murder, have been collecting a moss of testimony with which eventually tbey hope to establish the entire innocence of their clients. They have already intimated to tbe shorthand writer to the Treasury that they will require him to givo evidence against her, besides several other persons who are to be called. Clara Brown will, however, be defended by tbe Solicitor to the Treasury, to whose services sbe wiil be entitled, having been a witness for the Crown. Tbe " beginning of the end" has at length come to Temple Bar, which, having been propped upon crutches for nearly two years aod n half, is at length about to disappear. An official notice has appeared from the Comptroller's office at Guildhall, invitiiij? applications from pubiic bodies or private persons for the "immediate removal" of tbe structure, for the purchase of which, it may fee remembered, iha J (i i e Sir Thomas Western bad enteied into negociations with a view lo erect it as an entrance Co his park at Felix Hall, Essex. Tha existing structure dates from the reign of Charles 11 , acd is eaid to have been designed by Sir Christopher Wren. The Master of the Rolls disallowed the plea and found for the plaintiffs wiih costs agaiast the de-

A shocking misadventure occurred the other day on tho premises of Mr Thompson, chemis? and druggist, of Sddgley. Two of the assistants were engaged with two arquaintances in the oilice adjoining il>o sale room, when the youthful son oi the proprietor appeared at the door with a doublebarrellßd gun, and fired it into their midst, killing one of the assistants on the spot. The lad instantly gave vent to his gribf and horror, declaring that be did uot know the gun was loaded. It seems tbat he had been amusing himself earlier in the day firing off the cun, and put it away unloaded, but one of the assistants reloaded it in his absence and without his knowledge.
