Arawata left Melbourne at 3 p.m. on 30th ult., and arrived here at ten last ni<jht. She brings 53 saloon and 30 steerage passengers, and 565 tons cargo. Passengers for Nelson, Mrs Smith and Mrs Sawell, and three in the steerage, and 30 tons cargo. Nnw Plymouth, Monday. Mrs Slandish mother of Major Slaudish, •was found dead in her bed this morning. Westport, Monday. Some excitement has been caused here at a report of the discovery of an eight foot seam of hard coal in the Sutherland Company's ground at Waimangaroa, about 20 chains from the Mount Rochf ort railway.
