[PRESS AGENCT.] Christchurch, Tuesday. The Lytlellon Times and the Press appeared this morning in an enlarged form, the same size as the Olago Daily Tunes and the New Zealand , Herald. The Suuday Observauce League last night passed] a resolution strongly condemnatory of the action of the Government in calling npon the men employed on the railways and wharves at Christchurcb. and Lyttelton to work on Sundays when required. A man named Bunny, who was gored by a bull on December 27, died on Saturday. Wednesday. At the Lyttelton regatta yesterday the Champion Sailing llace, for vessels under 150 tons, for the Regatta Cup, value 75 soys, and 50 soys added, was won by Mr J. Gruudy's schooner Torea, 78 tons ; Mr Whitby's ketch Emerald, 4i) tons, 2 ; Mr Armstrong's schooner Nellie, 6G tons, 3. The Minnie E. F. Cameron, Anna, and Gipsy also competed. The Torea won easily, but there was a good race tor second place.— Ships' Boat Pulling Race: Lochfleet, 1; Australian Sovereign, 2. — Interprovincial Champion four-oar VVhaleboat Race, for a cup and 75 soys : Ringarooma (Lyttelton crew), 1 ; Arawata ( Wellington crew), 2. Won by ten seconds. — Champion Yacht Race, for a cup and 75 soys : Messrs Gibbs and Murdoch's cutter Spray, 9 tons, 1, Mr Cunningham's cutter Annie Ogle, 17 tons, 2, Lyttelton Yacht Club's cutter Fleetwing, 10 tons, 3. Three others competed. Wellington, Wednesday. The Zealandia has cleared for Londou with a cargo consisting of 5200 bales wool, 67 bales of skins, 117 packages of tallow, 68 packages of meat and 57 pockages of sundries. Total value £103.625. Auckland, Wednesday. The following i? the result of yesterday's races:— Derby Stakes, of IQO soys; Pope, Baron, Jessamy were scratched, and only Mr Walker's Veuus, Trausit, aad Queen Mab ran. Venus was never called on, and won at her pleasure. — Selling Race: Isaac Waltcjj 1, Tom Finn 2, Starvation 3. Pope, Polly and Gillie Callurn also ran. Isaac won easily hard held. — Publicans' Purse. All were scratched but Hippocampus and Ratcatcher, and Hippo won as he chose. — Club Handicap of 200 soys: Lara \ f Elsa 2, Gillie Calluin 3. Venus, Transit, aud Rosalie also rau. A capital race, won cleverly by Jyara by a length. — Grand Stand Handicap? Hippo 1 ? Lara 2, Perfume 3. Five others ran. Golden Crown led to the straight, when Hippo collared him and Crown bolted, Hippo winning easily by £w.o lengths.
