Melbourne, January 1. Twenty thousand people attended the races. The Governor was present, and the racing was good. This Champion Stakes, of 25 soys. each, 10ft.,. with 1500 added. For three-year-olds and upwards. Weight for age. Second horse to receive 200 sots., and the third 100 soys., out of the stakes. Three miles. Entries closed with 57 nominations. First King i Chester 2 Robinson Crusoe ... 3 It was a fine race, but won pretty easily. Seven started. Time, sinins 26secs. Two Year Old Stakes. — A sweestakes of 20 soys each, h ffe, with 200 added. Five . furloags. Entries closed with 73 nominations. Bosworth .. ..1 Itoodee « 2 Warlock 3 A grand race won by half a head. Time, lraiu Gsecs. Three Year Old Handicap. — A handicap of 10 soys each, h ft, with 150 added. One mile and a half. Pardon l Exposion ... . 2
