NELSON TOWN SCHOOLS.

The Provincial Hall, together with the large gallery, was crammed full this afternooQ of the children attending the Nelson schools together with their parents and friends. The prizes were distributed by the Rev J. Leighton, the Chairman of the Local Committee, who urged upon the children the desirability of making the best use of the opportunities afforded them, and spoke of the advantages they possessed in the great and kindly interest taken in them, and the snperior class of books that were placed within their reach as compared with those to be had when he waa a boy at school. After a lengthy address, Mr Leighton proceded to delirer the prizes as follows :— HARDY-STREET GIRLS. First Class— Good conduct: l3t prizfe, Ada Amos, 2nd Elizabeth Capper. Arithmetic: Cora Walker.
