fate of Osman Pasha's army excites great uneasiness in Constantinople. Ciief ket Pasha is fortifying Orchanie, on the road between Sophia and Plevna. Nov. 2. The Russians ara advancing on the Sophia Road, and have taken Radosnize, bayond Selicha. Chefkefc Pasha, with twelve battalions of infantry, fled, and was pursued by Russian cavalry.— lt is reported at Bucharest that Chefket Pasha was repulsed with great loss in attempting to retake Selicha. The Russian headquarters have been removed to Bogol, midway between Plavna and Lof tche.— ! Eight thousand Turkish troops, the best regulars left in the capital, hare been sent to the front. A quarter of a million of men hare been sauimoned to the ranks. — The Russians advanced to Vettovia, half way between Rustchuk and Rasgrad,on Friday, and ware reputaed with a loss of several hundred raeu.— Twenty-five thousand Servians ara massed on the frontier. Skirmishes have commenced at Timoka. Nor. 6. Combined Turkish forces have reached Erzeroum.— At Hassan Kaleh, on the night of the 30th October, the Russians surrounded the rear guard of the Turkish army, and captured two battalions. The correspondent of the Daily Telegraph was made prisoner, but was allowed to escape after being plundered by the Cossacks. Nov. 7. The capture of Erzeroum is not confirmed. __ Nov. 10. Mukhtar Pasha's reported retreat from Erzeroum is inaccurate.— Sir Arnold Kemball, British Military Commissioner, haa gone to Balburt.— The Russians attacked tha redoubts in front of Erzeroum, and after nina houra fighting, were repulsed with heavy loss. Mukhtar Pasha pursued the Russian to Devanboyan.— A ; telegram from Berlin reports that Turkey has made secret proposals for peace to the Great Powers, with important concessions to Russia, Roamania, and Montenegro; but it is improbable that they will b 8 accepted at this juncturo. The Golos asserts that any conditions of peace must include the Dardanelles.— The freedom of the City of Glasgow ha 3 been presanted to the Marquis of Hartington.— Mr Gladstone, on being presented with the freedom of the City of Dublin, confined himself in his 3paech to Irish affairs. -At a Cabinet Council it was decided to resume negotiations with Germany for a reciprocity treaty.— The Due de Cazea, . French Minister of ' Foreign Affairs, has resigned. Delegates from the Right of the Senate have assured Marshal Macmahon of their personal support.— The trial of 183 Nihilists has' been commenced at St. Petersburg.—The death is announced of FieldMarshall Ton Wrangel,of the Prussian Army aged 33 years. . Nov. 12. Turkish reconnoisance on the Loin, made on the 9th instant, showed that a large portion of the Czarowitz's army have been withdrawn to aid in investing Plevna.— The Russians announce the capture of Oralza, near Orchanie, on the 9th insr., and several thousand waggons containing provisions.— A letter from a correspondent who entered Plevna with the last Turkish convoy reports that provisions are at famine prices.— Tha Times says that the failure to capture Erzeroum oa the 9th inst. may be regarded as making it secure for the winter. . Nov. 13. Russian cavalry are scouring all the country between Plevua Widdin, and Orchanie.— A Pasha is leaving Bosnia for Orchanie with 59 battalions of infantry and s, battery of Krupp guns.— ln repelling a sortie from Kars on the sth instant, two battalions of Russian infantry entered so far within the Turkish Hues that they bayoneted many of the defenders, spiked some guns, took 50 prisoners, aud afterwards withdrew.— lt is reported that the garrison of Kars, consisting of 12,000 men, is suffering from scarcity of wood and water.
