it. On one of the animals this had a most peculiar effect, driving it perfectly mad, in which state it galloped about the field until it rushed against a fence and broke its neck. Tha other two lingered for a longer period, but all efforts to save them proved of no avail. On their stomachs being examined the lead waa found in them in small pellets. The boating season in Nelson was inaugurated by an awkward accident on Saturday afternoon. There was to have beeu a procession of boats, but, owing to the sea running, the outriggers were not launched. The gigs Richmond and Victory, however, were manned and started for a turn round the harbor, but shortly above the coal hulk the former got into a tide rip and swamped. Her crew held on to the boat and oars, and contrived to keep themselves above water, until a boat from H.M.S. Sappho and another from the shore arrived to their assistance; The crew then returned to their frail craft, but once again the same thing occurred, and the Sappho's boat had to take charge altogether* The Victory escaped more lightly, but she, too, was once or twice nearly filled with water. The names of those who got an unexpected bath were, Dr Scaly (captain), Messrs G. Ashcroft, C. Bird, Boulton, and J. Pollock. The members of the Naval Brigade returned from Motueka on Saturday afternoon During the pastage across the Aurora gave conclusive proof of her great sailing powers having accomplished the distance in five minutes under two hours. This time would haye been lessened had the wind kept up, but it lulled down when the boat was half way across, and for half an hour the Aurora made but little progress. The trip on the whole was a pleasant one, and the two days' outing was greatly enjoyed by the men. About a dozen pasgengers who lost their passages in the Lady Barkly on Friday evening, came across in the Aurora. A vitalizing elixir. Nervous, weakly persona frequently dose themselves for imaginary diseases, when all they require is wholesome invigoration. Thousands have recovered robust health, by substituting for unwholesome drugs a pure and agreeable Vitalizing Elixir which solaces the nerves, overcomes digestive and other functional weakness or disorders, and is prescribed by four thousand intelligent physicians. We allude to Udolpho Wolfe's Schiedah Akomatio Schnapps.— Advt.
