The House met this afternoon and ad 1 journed, ou the motion of Sir G. Grey uuti this eveniug, in order to allow members to attend the funeral of Mr Alfred Ludiam a former member of the House. ' Capt. R. A. Edwin reports:— "Watch barometer. Bad weather expected from any direction between north-west aud south-west Gale here now." Mb. A. J. Jenkins requests us to correct au error that appeared in our report of the Agricultural Show. For the best Southdown ram, Shropshire ram, three Southdown ewes three Southdown hogget ewes, Leicester hogget ram, Southdown hogget ram, and pou of five fat lambs for butcher's purposes the prizes were awarded to A. G., and not to J Jenkins,— Mr Hale'a roses, too, were awarded a prize instead of only being " commended " as reported. The Rer. G. A. Whyte, F.K.G.S., w'll deliver his interesting lecture 'A journey from Pekiu to St. Petersburg " at the Richmond Institute tliis evening, when we would strongly recommend all who are able to do so to attend. A vublic meeting in connection with the British and Foreign Bible Society will be held at the Masonic Hall to-morrow evening at half-post. seven. The next practice of the Nelson Amateur Christy's has been postponed nntil Wednesday eveniug, Messks Patterson and Co. advertise an auction sale of mutton at their rooms tomorrow morning at 1 1 o'clock. A meeting for the purpose of obtaining an expression of public opinion on the present state of political affairs has been called by the Mayor for Wednesday evening next. As the House of Representatives is so divided against itself aa to be utterly unable to carry on the business of the country it is high time that the electors took the matter in hand and pronounced in favor of one side or the other A similar meeting, as will be seen by our telegrams, is to be held at Dunedin to night M«. B«st, of Appleby, informs us that about a fortnight ago he lost three calves from lead poisoning, they having come across some lead paper in which tea is enclosed in chests and eaten a small quantity of
