Three-quarters of a mile— Mr. Redwood's Chokebore (£2O), I ; Mr Delamain's Parthenopceus (£3O), 2 ; Mr O'Brien's Xantippe (£100), 3. Steamer (£SO), Fairy Queen (£100), and Phantom (£SO) also ran. A capital start was effected, and Phantom was the first to show in front, but soon gave way to Chokebore, all the others being close up. On entering thejstraight Parthenopceus came up, and a splendid race home with Chokebore ensued, which resulted in the latter winning by half a length. Time, Imin. 32secs. Osborne, the rider of Shillelagh in the Steeplechase, broke his collarbone in the fall caused by the cannon with Royalty at the second hurdle.
