[press agencv.] Wellington, Thursday. A meeting of creditors iu the estate of James O'Shea, merchant, who failed some time ago, was held this afternoon. The bankrupt received his discharge. Mrs O'Shea relinquished £1000 worth of personal property, though creditors claims on the same, according to their legal standpoint, only amounted to £200. Captaiu Thomas reports:— Adelaide flour, £22 10s; colonial ditto, £17 10s to £18; oats, 3s lOd to 4s; bran, ls to ls Id; wheat, 4s 3d to 4s Gd; hams, Bijd; bacon, 7d; maize, 4s 3d , potatoes, £2 10s; pollard, £7. Friday. I In the case of Daniel Haggerty for arson the second jury was locked up all last night j aud discharged this morning, not having i agreed. The case will be tried next Monday ! before a third jury and another Judge. It j has leaked out that onthe first jury there were originally seven for a conviction and five for acquittal, and then they changed to eleven for acquittal aud one for conviction On the second jury eleven uew.men were for a convictioj, but the twelfth, who had been on tbe previous jury stood out for acquittal. Dunedin, Thursday. On the application of the Crown Prosecutor a special jury has been granted in George Jones' case. The date of the trial is not yet fixed. The Education Board yesterday resolved to give every assistance to the High School Commission in conducting their investigations. The legality of Reed and Fenwick dismissing the Daily Times literary staff on a week's notice will be tested in a Court of law, as all its members have claimed a mouth's notice. All the members of the medical staff of Christchurch Hospital ceased attendance today, for the following reasons :— Some time ago, Dr Campbell one of the Hospital surgeons, brought a case into the Supreme Court for the recovery of £500 from the executors of a private patient, who, Dr Campbell said, gave him a deposit receipt for the £500 just prior to his death. The amount claimed could not be recovered. Subsequently the medical staff of the Hospital, considering the eridence iu Court disclosed improper conduct on the part of Dr Campbell, petitioned the Government to remove him from the Hospital staff; but the Government took no action. The application wa3 repeated with out effect, and to-day Drs Turnbull, Deamer, M'Dowell, Powell, Hays, Doyle, and Frankish ceased attendance at the Hospital. No one is in charge of the medical cases. Dr Prins continues to act with Dr Campb.ll in Burgical cases. Lyttelton, Friday. Arrived— N.Z.S.S. Co.'s ship Waitangi with saloon passengers aud 260 immigrants, all well. Her passage is 79 days from land to land, and 83 from Plymouth to anchor. She left Plymouth on July 12th, took her departure from the Lizards ou July 14th, and made the Snares early on September 30th. Fine weather marked the passage throughout, and there were no deaths. Kumara, Friday. Thomas Ryan has been brought up on n charge of murdering Joseph Daniels on the 10th March. There are twenty witnesses to be examined. .
