[Per Ringarooma.] Melbourne, Sept. 19. The Council having postponed the consideration of the Land Tax Bill till the 26th, the Assembly, on the motion of the Government, adjourned till the *27th. The Opposition objected to this course, but were overruled by a large majority. The Council passed the Railway Coustruction Bill after making some material alterations. Colonel Ward has resigned as deputymaster of the mint, and will urobably be succeeded by Colonel Scratchier! Sir William Jervois and Sir H. C. Robinson are at present both in Melbourne. There is some prospect of the' Italian Opera Troupe visiting New Zealand. Two fine short-horn bulls have been shipped ou board the Hero for T. and S. Morrau Dasseper Park, Auckland. ' A murder has occurred near Rushworth. One Kelly, a miner, coolly shot Henry Parkinson, another miner, duriug some dispute about money matters. The Lusitania left for London full of passengers aud cargo. The ship Macduff on her passage out was run into by the 3hip Belfast, bound to India and was also dismasted iv a gale. ' The weather has been very hot and dry. There has been a copious rainfall in New South VVales and the Riverine dirtrict. An Equity suit, Aarous v. Lewis, in reference to a dispute over the Academy of Music has been commenced. Creswick is still drawing good houses. Business is dull.
