SHOCKING SUICIDE.

It is with very great regret that wa have to announce the death by suicide of Dr John Bligh, who about twelve months ago entered into partnership with the late Dr Cotterell. On Monday last he was ill and confined to the house, but yesterday was about again as usual. This morning he did not leave his room, but spoke to his laudlady (Mrs Scott) through his bedroom door, and also to Capt. Cornwall, with whom he made an appointment for half -past two o'clock this afternoon. Shortly before that time Mrs Scott scut over for Captain Cornwall, asking him to come over, as she could not get Dr Bligh to answer her. He went, and after knocking at the door for some time, and receiving no reply, he entered by the window aud found deceased dressed and lying on his back on the bed, the face being much discolored. Dr. Squires was sent for, and on arrival fouud reason for believing that death had beeu caused by prussic acid. From papers found in the room there is reasou to believe that the act had been premediated for some hours. The sad event has cast quite a gloom over the town, and has caused much surprise, for even his most intimate friends had not observed anything peculiar iv his manner. An inquest will be held tomorrow.
