MAGISTRATES' COURT. MOTUEKA.
[Before C Parker, B. Macmahon, F. Jellicoe, and H. Tarrant, Eaqs., J.J.P.] Wednesday, August 15. Rose v. Glover.— la this case tho complainant charged the defendant, a married woman, with using abusive language towards him in a public place. Mr Bunny appeared on his behalf, and after hearing the evidence the Bench bound both parties over to keep the peace for one year. Jenkins r. Rowling.— Claim for £9 19s, the value of seventeen sheep destroyed by defendant's dog. Mr Bunny appeared for the defendant. In .this case the evidence was of a very circumstantial nature, there being no direct evidence that the dog killed the sheep, though he was seen in the neighborhood. At the conclusion of the evidence, which lasted a very long time, their Worships retired, and after an absence of half an hour, gave judgment for the plaintiff for the full amount claimed, with costs £2 10s.
