Before proceeding with business Mr Brandon read a paper to the effect that having learut of the action taken by Mr Bartou agaiust the Supreme Court Judges, he wished ou behalf of the bar, in order to prevent the publle being jiiislead, to state that it was | without previous consultation with the bar, | thafc they were ignorant of the statements | tuado, aud had uo sympathy with a course so unprecedented iv ite character. The Chief Justice thauked those assembled for their expressed sympathy aud confidence but desired to "say "nothing to deprecate an mquiry into his conduct It was the privilege of every British subject if he had a well-grounded complaint agaiust a Judge to ask for his removal at the hands pf the Legislature. " -.-, \ ', .. Mr Justice Richmond concurred in what , had been said by the Chief Justice. ' He gloried iv the liability: of having, their conduct investigated at any- time, as tbat was a guarantee to the public of the just administration of the Court. At tbe proper time aup place he should be glad to meet auy aceusatiou made against him.
