UPPER MOTUEKA ROAD BOARD

The Board met on Saturday last. All the members were present except Mr W H Phillips. Mr A. R. Oliver was unanimously elected chairman. Resolved, That the Secretary be allowed 10s for his attendance at each meeting of the Board. Resolved, That Mr A. Thompson's offer to repair the track from Wangapeka crossing to the Baton for £10 be accepted. Resolved, That £5 10s be paid to the Baton settlers as remuneration for 22 days work in clearing the road after the-heavy rains of February last. Resolved That Mr M'Gee be paid £3Q for land for a new rofid through sections .Bß, 89; 91, 92, and 95. A letter was rend from the clerk to the Waimea County [Council recommending a conference with the Waimea Board for the purpose of getting the new road over Spooner's Range made of uniform width and equally easy gradients throughout. Tenders were received ior contracts NO3. 1 and 2 of the new road to Spooner's Range; R. Edgar's tender for No. 1 at £l 7s 6d per chain, and G. H. Kidson's tender for No. 2 at £2 2a per chain were accepted. Resolved, That Mr D. Kerr be authorised to expend a sum not exceeding £io in repairs on the road between his property and Fogden's. Resolved, That Mr Coleman be authorised to get day men to carry out the instructions of the Secretary
