AUSTRALIAN SUMMARY.

[Per Easby.] Sydney, May 11. Air Parkes, the Premier, is too ill to attend his place at the house. Adelaide. The Government, acting upon the advice of Sir William Jervois, have telegraphed home for a supply of Martin-Henri rifles, to come ort by next mail. The country districts are taking up the volunteer movement, and at a meeting held in the Town Hall resolutions were passed strongly in favor of placing the colony in a position to defend itself, and also for the formation of a volunteer force, were enthusiastically carried. A writ of injunction has been granted on behalf of W. E. Gladstone to restrain Messrs Fearson Bros, from infringing on Plaintiff's copyright to a pamphlet on the Bulgarian horrors The Government have telegraphed to the War Office for the assistance of an officer of the Royal Engineers or artillery to take command of the forces here. Wheat has been refused at 7s lid. The Exhibition Commissioners will ask the Government for £2500 to secure the colony being represented at the Paris Exhi- i bition. , Melbourne. The Premier has arranged with the AgentGeneral for the transmission of a weekly message on the position of affairs in Europe. This is in conjunction with the Agents-General of other colonies, who mostly acquiesced. The messages will be despatched in the first place to' Adelaide, thence immediately to other colonies. The ship Erato on the passage fell in with a derelict vessel.
