Handicap Hurdle Race of 50 sovs, with a sweepstakes of 3 sovs each to go to second horse; distance, two and a half miles: Eclipse, aged, lost, 1; Banjo, aged, list 61bs, 2; I will if I can, 5 yrs, 7st 71bs, 3. Theodore, aged, lOst lOlbs, and Nevis, 4 yrs, '9st, also also ran. Theodore having run inside a post after starting was disqualified. Banjo received second money. Time, 5 mius 45secs. Publicans' Handicap of 100 sovs, with a sweep of 2 sovs each for second horse; distance, one mile and three-qrarters; Fishhook. 4yrs, Bst 12lbs, 1 ; Templeton, 6 yrs, 9st Slbs, 2; Guy Eawdes, 5 yrs, 7st 81bs, 3. Punga, 7st Olbs, and Exile, 6st 4lbs, were scratched. Betting: C to 4 on Fishhook, even money on Templeton, and 2 to 1 agst Guy Fawkes, O. n entering the straight Guy was beaten, and Templeton drew away a length, but Fishhook came with a rush 200 yards from the post, passed the other two, and lauded the winner by a length from Templeton, Guy two lengths behind Templetou. Time, 2uiins 19SCC3. Hospital Race— won easily by Sir WilliamFlying Handicap, of 75 sovs; one mile. Titaniu, Syrs, 6st 'iOllis, 1; Pungaverewere, 4yrs, Sst, 2; Fishhook, 4yrs, 9st Slbs, 3. Rob Hoy also ran. Fishhook was backed to win largely, but Derret, who was riding him appeared to be pulling the horse, and when he rode into the saddling paddock the crowd hooted, and yelled out "Shame, swindle," aud at one time it seemed as if the rider would be pulled off his horse. Immediately after the race the stewards held a meeting to consider the case, aud resolved that in consequence of his being distinctly pulled in the ] Flying Handicap Fishhook be not allowed to run on the Oamaru race course again, and i that the Secretary be instructed to transmit the resolution to all jockey clubs in the colony, and to request them to endorse the same.
