DUNEDIN RACES.

m , Dunedin, Thursday, The races commenced to-day. The weather was unfavorable during tne forenoon, but cleared up at one o'clock, when, there were about 4000 people on the course. The first event was the Maiden Plate of 80 sovs, one mile and a half. Titania and Bribery .. were scratched. The race was a very 4 unsatisfactory affair, as it was supposed to be controlled by the bookmakers. Little Dan 1, Treagle 2 Time, 3mins 28secs. Dunedin Cup, of 500 sovs; two miles and a distance. — Pungawerewere, Elfin King Cloth of Gold, Stormbird, Rob Roy, and Spray were scratched. It was a splendid race and resulted as follows:— Fishhook, 1; Hippocampus, 2; Fallacy, 3. Time, 4 mins 5 sees.
