To the Editor op the 'Evening Mail. Sik— Allow me through your paper to correct an error in the report, as printed, respecting the losses in the Pangatotara SubDistrict. Joseph Knowles, it is there stated, has had to remove his house. Such is not the case; the house is uninjured and perfectly safe. A considerable portion of his land is covered up and rendered useless for the present, but will no doubt (to some extent) recover itself in' time. I am anxious that this error should be corrected, as in the cases I have assisted in investigating great care has been taken to avoid exaggeration, I am, &c, Henry Alex.
