The Kaiapoi crew leave Lyttelton tn morrow for Nelson, and may be e "neeted here on Tuesday next. TheiTboal S Ca m ! belongs to the Cure Boating Club and was

third in the champion race at the Interprovincial Regatta held at Wellington last year. The whaleboat recently built by Mr Taylor for the forthcoming regatta will be launched on Tuesday next. We are requested to draw attention to the sale by auction to-morrow by Mr Mabin of the booth sites for the Interprovincial Regatta. As there will probably be a large number of people here to witness the regatta, it is expected that the competition for the sites will be brisk. Mr Mabin will hold several other important sales to-morrow. A number of the members of the City Council drove up Brook-street Valley yesterday afternoon to inspect the new dam, which has recently been constructed by Mr Carter, and were well satisfied with the manner in which the work has been carried out. The new dam is five chains and a half higher up the stream than the old one and ten feet above its level, and the foundations have been let into the solid rock to a depth of twelve inches, the consequence being that every drop of water is caught and none of it allowed to escape, as was proved yesterday to the satisfaction of . those visiting it. Twelve-inch pipes are being laid down connecting the dam with the main service pipe and also with the reservoir, by means of which a more plentiful supply and a higher pressure will be obtainable. Although, perhaps, bad news for Canterbury, the telegram announcing the resignation by the Hon Mr Richardson of his seat m the Ministry will in other parts of New Zealand be read with satisfaction. Mr Richardson was too much imbued with Canterbury ideas to make a good Colonial Minister. The service to be held to-morrow by : Messrs Ord and Russell, who leave Nelson on Monday, will take place on the lawn on the western side of Mr Short's residence ; under the shade of the willow trees. Do you feel uriref reshed, languid, and de- < voiJ of appetite for breakfast in the morning? If so, be sure tbat there is a want of activity ;and. regularity in the vital machinery, and that you require a wholesome tonic and corrective. If you put oft: meditation, positive disease may develop itself. Take a wineglassful at night, in the morning, and in the middle of the day, of Udolpho Wolfe's Schiedam Ahomatic Schnapps, and you will , rise refreshed and with a hearty appetite.—Advt.
