CRICKET.

Wakefield v. Spuing Grove.

The return match between the abovenamed clubs took place at Wakefield on Saturday last, the weather being splendid for the game. The Wakefield Captain (Powell), having won the toss, decided to send their opponents to the wickets, the bowling of. 'the Wakefield team being entrusted to W. and T. Eden, and the latter fully maintained his reputation as a splendid bowler, the whole of the Spring Grove team being disposed of for 32 runs. Wakefield then began their first innings, S. Powell and K. Knapp going to the wickets, but the ground at this time was very lively and eatehing out appeared to be the order of the day. Seven wickets of the Wakefield team went down for 29 runs, but the remaining three, by playing very steadily, brought up the score at the finish of the innings to 54, being 22 ahead of their opponents. In the second innings J. Hyde and J. Fayen made an excellent stand for Spring Grove, the others going down very quickly. This innings finished for 43. In the second innings of the Wakefield two wickets fell for 0. E. Fowler played a pretty innings for 11, and S. Fowler and K. Knapp then finished the game, both playing remaakably well, Wakefield thus winning with seven wickets to go down. The pressure on our space to-day prevents our giving the scores in full.

During the day both teams partook of an excellent lunch, provided by Mr R. Wallace, of the Wakefield Arms.
