OUR SHOPS.
To the Editor op the 'Evening Mail.'
Sir— l thank "F." for the interest he took in, and his defence of, my cause, in regard to boys who, after having spent their evening in playing larks in the steets, may take a fancy to come, by means of false keys, into my shop to inspact my cash bo.:, to indulge in smoking a pipe, or to take a nap. As I see that the law is so very lenient towards them, I think I shall for the future take it into my own hands, and give such a thrashing to the first boy, be he the son of a poor or of a rich mau, whom I may find on my premises, that he will remember ifc to the end of his life, and should there be, after my hurried manipulation, any limb in the shape of a protruding arm or foot, found broken, I shall not make myself uneasy if I have to be bound over to appear, after a few months, before* a Judge and jury, who, far from condemning my assault, will, in their goodnature, commend my conduct towards the iarrikins, and pass a verdict of " Served them right."— l am, &c, Shopkeeper.
