Maiden Plate of 100 sovs, added to a sweepstakes of lo sovs. Weight for age. One aud a half lniles. Mr Webb's .Middle ton (Clarke) 1 Mr Noswdrthy's Fallacy (Watty) 2 Mr Walters' Fanny Fisher colt (Canfcell) 3 . Titania and Lady of the Lake also ran. Maroro and Wrangler were vScratched. Bet--.tiug: 4to2agstthe Fanny Fisher colt and Fallacy: 3 to 1 agst Lady of the Lake; 4 to 1 agst Middleton. Fallacy made the running, Fanny Fisher colt soon goiug up, Titania and Lady of the"- Lake tailing off. The Fanny Fisher colt and Middleton led for a t mile, when the former fell back. Fallacy went lip, and a splendid race home was finished by Middleton winning by a short ueck. Time, 2inins 45secs. Canterijdry Cup, of 250 sovs, added to a • sweepstakes of 15 sovs, . Two and- a . quarter miles. Mr Eedwodd's Guy Fawkes, 9st 61bs (Lyford) 1 Mr Nosworthy's Danebury, 7st 21bs '" (Watty) 2 Mr Studholme's , Cloth of Gold, Bsfc 12lbs ; (Cotton) 3 Pungawerewere, Dead Heat, and Songster . also ran. Templeton, Ariel, Fauny Fisher colt, and Fallacy were scratched. Bettiug even on Guy; sto 2 agst Danebury; 3to 1 agsfc Songster; 5 to 1 agst the others. Pungawerewere cut out ihe running with Danebury second, Cloth of Gold third, and Guy Fawkes fourth. Dead Heat . bolted off the course, and was out of the race. At the end of the first mile Danebury went up to Puugawereand Guy Fawkes passed Cloth of Gold, the rest tailing off. ' Danebury aud Punga led to the bottom, when Guy improved his position rapidly. On entering the straight, Punga fell back beaten aud Guy and Danebury came away together, and there was a maguicent race home, Guy Eawkes whmirfg by a° very short length, Cloth of Gold a bad third. • Tiuie: 4inins 16|secs. Publicans' Purse Handicap. Three- . quarters of a mile. Mr Walters' Isaac Walton (French) 1 Mr Mallock's ' Mangle, 7st. Gibs. (Osborne) 2 Mr Webb's Wrangler, 7st 61b (Clark) 3 Black Pine, Fishhook, and Follefarine also ran; Tadmor, Songster, and Amohia were scratched. Betting, « to 4 against Fishhook; 3 to 1 against Wrangler; 5 to 1 against the others. Isaac .Wai ton and Wrangler got the best of a very had start, Fishhook being left at the post. The first two raced together all the way, and Isaac won by a length and a half. Time lm. 20^ sees.
