UPPER MOTUEKA ROAD BOARD.
The Boird met on Monday last. The foi lowing members were present : — Messrs Needham, Rigby, Coleman, aud Gee. The minutes of la.t meeting were read and cou-fli-med.—Resolved, That t3nders be invited for forming the r.ad near R. Hodgkinson _, Tadm.r.—Kesolved, Thit tender* be invited for forming road from Fenimore's cutting to ford beyond the church.— Received, a letter from Mr R. Bobby, asking leave to cut down the bank of the Sherry oppo»ite his land, to enable him to reach the road.— Resolved, thut he be informed that there is no road on the plan close to the river opposite his land, therefore his request cannot be granted — Resolved, That the Provincial Secretary be asked to pay into the Bank the £150 balance to " Payment to Provinces " account, to meet payments being made for work being executed as approved by Government in connection with that grant.— Received, a letter from Mr Gillow. calling the attention of the Board to the Wangapeka Road.— Resolved, That Mr Giilow and others be informed that the Ch-irman will examine the road to see what wants doing.— Resolved, That the Provincial Secretary be informed that the Hope road is blocked up. aad that he be solicited to grant the £ 20 lately offered to the Board to keep the road available for horse traffic— Received, a letter from the Provincial Secretary in answer to a memorial for a wire rope and chair crossing over the Motueka river, offering to supply the rope if the Board would be at the cost of the erection.— Resolved, That the Provincial Secretary be informed that the Board, in its present straitened circumstances does not feel justified in undertaking the expense.—Resolved, That the Secretary be instructed to prepare a return of the expenditure in Norris's Gully and Spooaer's Range cutting since 1868, to explore for a new line of road, and report to next meeting of the Board — Resolved, That all money coming to the Board be divided amongst the sub-districts in proportion to rates.— Kesolved, That the advertising be continued in the Evening Mail — Next meeting to be held ou September 16th at 10 a.m. The assessment was gone over, passed and signed by the Chairman, and the Secretary instructed to advertise it for inspection for twenty-one days.— Accounts were passed and paid by cheques amouuting to £135 13s Od.
