Fresh terms have been offerel by Bennett, the agent for the AU England Eleven, 'i hey are that if tbo fire towns of Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington, Nelson, and Auckland will contribute between them MO3 toward the expenses oi the trip, and give tbe Eleven the respective grounds at those places free of charge, the team will be prepared to visit New Zealand. A meeting is called for Saturday to discuss tbe matter. The provincial revenue for the quarter was £159,823, and the expenditure £130,389. The Wa^te Lands Board haie decided that a woman married after selecting on deferred payment to a man not possessing aa adjoin- j my selection, must occupy or give up the selection. Each must occupy their respective i selections. Christchurch, Wednesday. The Lytteiton Times of this morning says the labor market is never very brißk at this time of the year, but there can be no doubt it is much worse now than for some years past. The number who apply daily at the domain for work is very great indeed, and not long ago upwards of two hundred applications were made in one day. An instance of the abundance cf skilled labor in the Iron trade is afforded by the fict that in a very short time applications have been rece'ved from thirty men all cut of employment tor appointments as engineer at the Market Placa Fire Brigade Station. Auckland, Wednesday. Mr Lundon, brother of Mr Lunioo, M.P.C, was seized with a paralytic stroke while driving, and fell over on the road dead. Arrived — Taupo. Mr Kees addresses his constituency on Friday. Considerable anxiety is felt respecting the schooner Agnes, which left for the Chathams three months ago, and is long overdue. Wellington, Wednesday. The Governor accompanied by Captuin Mating and Lord Hervey Phipps will leave for Nelson in the Luna to-morrow night at eight o'clock, and will probably return on Tuesday morning next. A caucus ot i anterbury members was held to-day, when all the members for tbe Province except the Mhvster for Public Works attended. A proposal, emanating from the Otago Committee, suggesting a Bcheme for financial separation, was laid before the meeting by the Hon John Hall. In the Supreme Cjurt, James Shennen, chirged with commuting rape upon his stepdaughter, a child of tender yearn, was found guilty of attempted rape, and was this morning sentenced to 10 years' penal eervitude for the offence. The prisoner endeavoured to make out that the charge was the result of a conspiracy between hiß wife and daughter, as he and his wife had not been living happily together for some time. He said he had eleven children dependent upon him for bread, eight of them being under 11 years of age, and one an inlanfc.
