CORRESPONDENCE.
NELSON REGATTA. To the Editor of the ' Evening Mail.' Sir— Who " Thelis " may be I know n t; if a member of the Regatti Committee he shouU know why money was given to the race of which he complains, if not let him j peruse the pape-s, and he will find that he is under a false impression. At the request of the boating mtn of WeMngton a certain 6uoi was given for a four-oared race and to induce competition they kindly off. red the loan of that class of boat*, knowinz tint in Nelson there are none. If "Thetis" imagines that thes^ would be inferior he p iyg the Wellington men a poor compliment. Let me tell him they do not come here for money, as last , regatta proves, but come for love of spo»t and a pleasant outing, and I h*ve no doubt that if a crew here is willing to compete they would allow the Nelson men choke of boata. I am, &?., Coxswain. Nelson, Dec. 5, 1875.
