A meeting of the Regatta Committee is called for to-morrow evening at the Trafalgar Hotel. There being matters of special importance to discuss, it is hoped that there will be a full attendance of members. It will be seen by our telegrams that the weather at Wellington is so bad that it has been deemed advisable to postpone the races. Mr Richmond Htjrsthoc&e, a gentleman who has resided in Motueka for several years, announces his intention of offering himself as a candidate for the Motueka district. He will shortly meet the electors and state his views on the questions of the , clay. At the Resident Magistrate's Court this morning, three lads named Ernest Snow, and George and Alexander Mulvie, were charged by Mr J. S. Sanders with stealing cherries, and ordered to be taken to the gaol and whipped by the turnkey, and then discharged. — Andrew Rankin was charged with using threatening language^, to Esther Rankin, but as the prosec^rix did not appear the case was dismissed. — Several cases of cattle trespass were dealt with in the ordinary manner. Tiiebe are three candidates in the field already for the seat in the City Council rendered^yacant by the resignation of'Cr Carter^ namely, Messrs Augarde, H. D. Jackson, and T. Harley. All nominations must be sent in before four o'clock to-morrow.
