Melbourne, Nov. 27. The Treasurer in his Financial Statement ettimates the expenditure for the year at £4,524,645, and reckons on a probible deficit of £180,873, to meet which he proposes to raise £225,000, as follows:— Lao I and property tix, £125,000; income tax for. the half year, £6000; bank notis ta*, £2600; increased succession duties, £4000: which, af er deducting the deficit leaves a surplus of .£34,127. He also propo-es to relieve imported goods to the value of £1,065,977. producing £113,894 of revenue, and to borrow three minions for new railways, water supp'y works, add building State school*. The-fand and properly tax to be five per cent within citits, towns, and boroughs, andHeven ~p~cr cent for large estates; the income fax two and a half per cent on all incomes above £500 per annum.
