—-i-Kr* , Auckland cricketers have no right to decide such an important matter, and it would not be fair to the crickeers of other provinces to pla. fjich a match either at Aucklaod or Dunedin. A central pace thould be selec'ed, and the writers suggest that a delegate .hould be appointed by each province to meet at some central place, and decide where the great match shall be played, and how many players each province shall send to the New Zealand team. The C'iterion Hotel narrowly escaped des'ruction by fire la>t night. Sme gentlemen lodgers in the hotel saw a glare in an adjoining room, and found the window drapery in a blaze. After some trouble they suc.ee fed in extinguishing the fire. As this is the secon J occurrence of the kind within a week, it is suppo-el to be the work of an incendiary.
