The trial of John Dogherty for this ofteccc lasted until nearly five o'clock, when the jury retired, and, after a short absence, returned with a verdict of Not Guilty. i INDECENT ASSAULT. J. T.Smi h pleaded guilty to the charge of indecently assaulting a little girl between seven and eight years of age. His Honour said that this crime was becoming only too common, and he therefore felt it bi» duty to pass an examplary sentence, which would be imprisonment with hard labor for flve'years. STEALING PROM A DWELLING. •_• . Thomas Newbeir// was indicted for breaking into the house of John Bateman of Spring Grove, and etea ing £5 therefrom. Mr IT. Adams appeared for the Crown, and Mr Fell for the prisoner. The evidence has already Veen repotted. Prisoner was found guilty and sentenced to six months' imprisonment.
