A writer in the bchoolday Magazine has gathered together the following dictionary words as defined by certain people here and there: Back-biter — A flea. Fan — A tbiug to brush, the wnrmth off with. Fins — A fish's wings. Iee — Water that stayed out in the cold and went to sleep. Nest Egg — Tho egg tho old hen measures by to make new ones. Pig — A hog's little boy. Snoring — Latting off sleep. Snow — Rain all popped out while. Stars — The moon's eggs. Wakef'ulness — Eyes all the time coming unbuttoned. It is stated by a 'Frisco exchange, that it will take seven tons of locks and brass keys to lock and unlock the lour thousand portals which will be found in the interior of tho Palace Hotel when completed. The items of keys alone is an index pointing to the vastness of this great caravansary. It will cost £20,000 in United States gold coin, to supply tho establishment with the means of securing the various rooms and closets. The locks are of the Adams patent, and together with the keys, are to be made by a San Francisco locksmith. (For remainder of News see fourth page.)
