OP TELE GOTHENEUEG, NINETY-FIVE LIVES LOST. [Per Albion.] Melbourne, March G. After three days of painful suspense, the news was received in Melbourne at an early hour this morning as to the ultimate fate of the Gothenburg's passengers. Only 22 of the crew reached Port Dtnison. Ihe remainder of those on boird, numbering some 95 in all, hare perished. It has transpired that on the fatal night of the 24th February, when all hopo of saving the vessel was abandojtd, the boats were ordered to be got reaiy, and then there was a rush, and in the heavy sei they were capsized. A few men goi away in the life boat, which wns damage J, and they are still missing. Three men were pickei up off Ilolt-orn Island, where they had been subsisting on sea birds and shell fish The drowned include Juige "Werrin and his associate, and the Crown Solicitor, the Hou T. Reynolds, Dr Milner Wells, the eiitor of the Southern Territory Times, Mr and Mrs Hart, la'e Of New Zealand, and a number of women and children. The tule is a sad one, and wi.l bing grief to many a homo. Captain Pearce and the officers, together with the engine. rs, aro all drowned.
